Vishtèn – PAST EVENT

Vishtèn – PAST EVENT

Biography

For over a decade, the Acadian trio, Vishtèn, has dazzled audiences with its fiery blend of traditional French songs and original instrumentals that fuse Celtic and Acadian genres with indie-folk and rock influences.  The group is made up of multi-instrumentalists Emmanuelle and Pastelle LeBlanc, from the Evangeline Region of PEI, and Pascal Miousse, a native of the Magdalen Islands.  The members of the trio were raised in homes in which traditional music, percussive dance, and good old-fashioned kitchen parties were the stuff of everyday life.  Together they pay homage to their traditions and to the strong musical connections between their two Acadian communities.  These three powerful and energetic musicians have crafted a unique sound that combines original compositions, traditional French Acadian songs, and virtuosic instrumentals.  The infectious rhythms of tapping feet blend seamlessly with an impressive array of instruments.  Vishtèn is a much-decorated group, having received four East Coast Music Awards, including one for its 2016 recording, Terre Rouge.  One of the most respected bands in the international folk music scene, Vishtèn tours extensively, proudly keeping Acadian music fresh and relevant.  They last played the Festival in 2006.
