The Sweet Lowdown

The Sweet Lowdown

Biography

Drawing inspiration from folk, bluegrass, and roots music, as well as the natural environment of Vancouver Island, The Sweet Lowdown creates a beautiful and unique sound that puts an original spin on traditional music.  This group skillfully blends the vocals and instrumentals of Amanda Blied (guitar), Miriam Sonstenes (fiddle), and Tad Ruszel (mandolin) and engages the audience with lovely harmonies and songwriting. The Sweet Lowdown first performed for Folk Harbour audiences at the 2012 Festival, and many are enthusiastically awaiting the group’s return to Lunenburg.  Since 2012, the group has released the album Chasing the Sun (2014), which was nominated for a Western Canadian Music Award for Roots Recording of the Year.  For fans of roots and bluegrass, sweet harmonies, and strong songwriting, The Sweet Lowdown is a must-see this year at the Festival!
