The Small Glories

Biography

What do you get when you take two well-established solo musicians – one a folkie and the other a rocker – and combine them into a duo?  You get Cara Luft and JD Edwards performing as The Small Glories. But this is no ordinary duo. While they contrast in musical backgrounds, they effortlessly mesh their tight harmonies, guitar and banjo prowess, and stage presence, which comes from years of performing across Canada and around the world.   Formed purely by accident, for an anniversary show at the Winnipeg West End Cultural Centre, The Small Glories is a partnership that is making listeners believe in fate. In 2016, the group released its debut recording, Wondrous Traveler;  featuring instantly appealing melodies, with first-rate playing, it found its way onto many critics’ Top 10 lists across North America and Europe.  Cara has performed at Folk Harbour before, once with the Wailin’ Jennys (of which she was a founding member) and again as a solo act in 2008. This is JD’s first Festival appearance, and the first visit by the duo.  We expect the performances by this dynamic duo to be nothing short of glorious.
