The Barrowdowns – PAST EVENT

The Barrowdowns – PAST EVENT

Biography

Diverse instrumentation and soaring, five-part vocal harmonies characterize the distinct, alternative folk sound of the Halifax-based band, The Barrowdowns.  Born in a cold, dark Albertan winter in 2014, the band was started by Halifax musicians Kendra Breen and Rowan Swain.  Upon moving back to Nova Scotia, the duo joined forces with veteran Halifax musicians Dave Fultz, Adam Martin, and Neal Read to create an eclectic brand of folk music both energetic and spellbinding.  The Barrowdowns released an eponymous EP in 2016, with the group’s first full-length recording, Come What May Come, newly minted, having been released in spring of 2017.  The quintet brings its multi-instrumental, harmony-filled show to Folk Harbour for the first time this year.
