Shannon Quinn – PAST EVENT

Biography

Hailing from Halifax, NS, Shannon Quinn has been playing music professionally for over 16 years.  In that time, she has performed with Symphony Nova Scotia, with her father, Tony, and as a solo performer.  For her first-ever Folk Harbour appearance, she is joined by Decota McNamara and Alan Murray.  A graduate of Humber College’s music program, Shannon’s background is in traditional Celtic music; however, she effortlessly adds elements of jazz to beautifully express herself through her art.  A highly proficient fiddle player, she also possesses a gorgeous voice.  She launched her solo career in 2008 with the release of The Irwin Lake Sessions and followed that with her 2015 recording, If All the Young Ladies; the latter album was the winner of Music NS’s 2016 Roots / Traditional Album of the Year and New Artist Recording of the Year awards.  An apparent gap between these two recordings could be explained by an impressive tour schedule that had Shannon playing shows across Canada and around the world.
