Rosie and the Riveters – PAST EVENT

Rosie and the Riveters – PAST EVENT

Biography

Rosie & the Riveters are three fiercely talented and sassy dames from Saskatoon, SK, who perform upbeat folk music with a vintage 1940s flair.  Their original songs feature sophisticated harmonies, body percussion, scintillating dance moves, humour, and just enough ooh-la-la to keep your toes tapping long after the show is over.  Since forming in 2011, Rosie & the Riveters have taken the folk scene by storm, selling out venues across Canada and earning much critical praise; CBC Radio 2 host, Rich Terfry, calls them “one of the best live acts you’ll ever see.”  Inspired by the WWII feminist icon for whom the band is named, the members of the group – Allyson Reigh, Alexis Normand, and Farideh Olsen – seek to empower women to be ambassadors for change within their own communities.   To this end, they invest 20% of their merchandise profits to help finance other women’s projects around the world.  Hilarious, charming, and highly entertaining, we welcome Rosie & the Riveters to Folk Harbour for the first time.
