The Reverend Robert B. Jones, Sr. is a pastor, storyteller, teacher, and activist. He is also a self-taught multi-instrumentalist who plays guitar, mandolin, harmonica, cane fife, and fiddle. An award-winning educator, he has an encyclopedic knowledge of the history of African American folk music, including blues, spirituals, and slave songs. He strongly believes that he has a responsibility to pass on blues music and culture to the next generation, so he makes characters come to life in his songs and stories. A cultural force in his native Detroit, as well as on the international blues scene, Rev. Jones has been performing professionally for 30 years at festivals, schools, churches, and for civil rights organizations. Considered by some to be the best roots and blues educator in the world, he will no doubt entertain and inform during his inaugural Festival appearance.
