Lennie Gallant – PAST EVENT

Biography

Lennie Gallant’s involvement with Folk Harbour can be summed up succinctly: Lunenburg loves Lennie!  And what’s not to love?  The Rustico, PEI native has recorded eleven albums (nine in English and two in French), has performed with symphonies and for troops in Afghanastan, has participated in tributes to the Titanic and Canada’s hockey heritage, and has even had his music sent into space.  Adding to this impressive list is his musical-theatre show, “Searching for Abegweit: The Island Songs & Stories of Lennie Gallant.”  Hailed as a runaway theatrical hit, this show is a musical love letter to Prince Edward Island  featuring his folk, roots, and rock music in combination with stories, Island legends, and poignant tales from the red soil.  Not surprisingly, Lennie has shelves of awards including 2017 ECMA nods for Folk Recording of the Year (for Searching for Abegweit) and Fans’ Choice Entertainer of the Year.  He has also been inducted into the Order of Canada for his significant contributions to Canadian culture.  For his ninth Folk Harbour appearance, he will be joined on stage by Jeremy Gallant, Sean Kemp, Patricia Richard, and Jon Gallant.
