David Myles – PAST EVENT

Biography

Folk Harbour favourite David Myles returns this year to grace our stages with his timeless songs, irresistible energy, appealing stage presence, and of course, his trademark suits.  A man whose sound ranges from soulful, contemporary pop crooners to jazzy folk ditties, and from down-home roots tunes to infectious hip-hop earworms, David’s only artistic constant is his willingness to change.  Born in Fredericton, NB and now calling Halifax home, David is a gifted writer and a natural collaborator.  “Inner Ninja,” recorded with hip-hop star, Classified, is the biggest-selling rap single in Canadian history, and David’s “When it Comes my Turn” made it to CBC Radio’s list of the Top 10 East Coast Songs of all time.  His discography is remarkably prolific for someone who was headed down the path of political science just 15 years ago – he has released 10 full-length recordings since beginning his musical journey in 2005.  His list of awards is extensive and features a Juno, many ECMA and Music NS awards, as well as wins at international songwriting competitions.  David previously appeared at the Festival in 2008, 2011, and 2013.  For this year’s Festival, David will be superbly accompanied by Alan Jeffries and Kyle Cunjak.
