Ashley MacIsaac – PAST EVENT

Biography

Ashley MacIsaac first played Folk Harbour in 1992 as a 17-year-old and made his return appearance 20 years later at our 27th annual Festival.  Fans of his unconventional, hard-driving fiddle style will rejoice in the fact they don’t have to wait so long to see Ashley on Folk Harbour’s stage again.  The iconic Cape Breton fiddler hardly needs an introduction, as he is certainly one of the most celebrated Canadian roots musicians of all time.  His discography is extensive, with 14 releases from Closer to the Floor, his 1992 debut, to his 2016 recording, FDLER.  He has sold in excess of 500,000 albums, and his 1995 recording, Hi, How Are You Today?, earned double-platinum status.  Growing up surrounded by fiddle music, Ashley constantly pushed its boundaries, incorporating traditional, Celtic, rock, pop, and everything in between.  Internationally renowned, he has played at an incredibly diverse array of venues, including Carnegie Hall and the opening of the Vancouver 2010 Winter Olympics.  Ashley MacIsaac: three-time Juno Award winner, unbelievably talented fiddler and step dancer, astute political observer, and highly entertaining performer.  His appearance this year is not to be missed.
