A Saskatoon native transplanted to the Niagara Region of Ontario, Suzie Vinnick is the proud owner of a gorgeous voice, prodigious guitar and bass chops, and an engagingly candid performance style. Her career has seen triumph after triumph. A sampling of her successes include the 2024 Canadian Folk Music Award for Contemporary Singer of the Year, a 2024 ECMA for Blues Album of the Year (for A’Court, Spiegel and Vinnick with fellow 2024 Folk Harbour Festival artists Charlie A’Court and Lloyd Spiegel), and the Maple Blue’s Association’s 2023 Acoustic Act of the Year and the 2022 Female Vocalist of the Year. Her most recent solo recording, Fall Back Home (2022), is a compelling collection of original compositions, co-writes, and carefully curated covers. Her music defies easy stylistic categorization as she is equally at home in the blues, folk, and roots worlds, with elements of gospel and rockabilly also present. Suzie is a Folk Harbour favourite, having appeared on our Festival stage many times since 2004, as a solo act, with Rick Fines, and with the Marigolds.
