Mia Kelly is a singer-songwriter from Gatineau, Quebec who writes and performs in both French and English. Mia enthrals listeners with a distinctive blend of folk, rock, and blues; she is quickly gaining recognition as a poetic lyricist who delivers songs with her powerful and versatile voice. A born performer and an imaginative storyteller, Mia has already received recognition from the SOCAN Foundation and nominations from the Canadian Folk Music Awards. In 2023, Mia represented Canada as a finalist at the Jeux de la Francophonie in the Democratic Republic of Congo. Joining Mia is her longtime collaborator and friend Nick Loyer, who is a powerhouse vocalist and acclaimed songwriter in his own right. Nick, named by the Ottawa Citizen in 2020 as “one of Ottawa’s top 10 artists to follow”, is the founder of A Leverage for Mountains, a Gatineau-based folk-pop trio. As a duo, Mia and Nick blend their voices to perfection and let their passion for sharing heartfelt stories shine. This is the first Folk Harbour appearance for these musicians whose energetic and toe-tapping performances leave listeners wanting more.
