Lunenburg Folk Harbour Society – Job Postings

The Lunenburg Folk Harbour Society has openings for two part-time positions, Office Administrator and Accounts Manager, starting late February 2020. Depending on the qualifications of the individual, the two part-time positions could be combined into one position.


Office Administrator

 The Office Administrator will report to the Society President and the Personnel Committee.

 Qualifications required include:

  • Experience working in a non-for-profit organization
  • Proficiency in Computer skills, Microsoft Office, Social Media, FB, Twitter and Web design
  • Ability to work with little to no supervision
  • Management, Supervision, Leadership and Training Skills
  • Excellence in both verbal and written communication
  • Customer Service experience
  • Being a resourceful and creative self-starter

Overall Duties:

  • Assist in the function and delivery of mandates for Committee Chairs
  • Maintain the day-to-day operation of the Lunenburg Folk Harbour Society Office
  • Assist in the recruitment of summer student staff
  • Guide, direct, and supervise summer student staff
  • Work with the Program Committee to track and compile performer contracts and tech riders
  • Work with the Lunenburg Opera House Committee to track venue bookings and contracts
  • Prepare reports to the Board of Directors as required
  • Work with the Accounts Manager on ticket sales and contract management

Your flexibility and availability to work evenings and shifts during our Festival is necessary.  A valid drivers’ license and access to reliable vehicle is preferred. A clear criminal record is required.

Accounts Manager

The Accounts Manager will report to the Society Treasurer and the Personnel Committee.

Qualifications required include:

  • Experience working in a non-for-profit organization
  • Proficiency in electronic bookkeeping and standard office equipment and software. A working knowledge of Sage/Simply Accounting would be a strong asset.
  • Ability to communicate, organize, and multi-task Experience with non-profit organizations
  • Ability to keep accurate financial records with attention to detail
  • Willingness to work with a wide range of volunteers and staff

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain financial files and keep office financial systems and contact lists current
  • Provide bookkeeping services for the Society
  • Prepare cheques and cash floats for all Society events in a timely manner
  • Verify the cash/credit reconciliations and balance cash/credit slips after each event
  • Prepare and make bank deposits
  • Bank reconciliations are to be done in time for the monthly Board meeting
  • Review and reconcile Ticketpro settlements (our ticket software)
  • Work with the Office Administrator to sell and track office and telephone ticket sales
