Friday, May 12: Rum Ragged

Rum Ragged wasted no time making its mark on the music scene. Since releasing its debut recording in 2016, the Newfoundland group has received widespread attention from fans and critics alike. Hailing from different outport communities around the island, Rum Ragged now represents the best that their province has to offer in the traditional/folk genre. From spirited instrumentals to heartfelt ballads, they pay homage to the greats that came before them while carving out a fresh, unique sound of their own.
In this video, Rum Ragged performs “The Thing about Fish”, the title track of their 2021 JUNO-nominated album.
Tickets are $25 ($12.50 for those 25 years and under).

Saturday, May 13: Jah’Mila

Jah’Mila is a reggae singer originally from Kingston, Jamaica; since migrating to Atlantic Canada several years ago, she has served as a shining example of Jamaican music and culture. Her musical style embodies the captivating and lively spirit of traditional Jamaican roots music, infused with elements of jazz and modern soul. For this Folk Harbour appearance, she will be bringing her eight-piece all-star bandThis concert follows her win at the East Coast Music Awards last week for Global Music Recording of the Year!
Check out Jah’Mila’s incredibly powerful video, “Chant Their Names”, a song that calls for change in a system that has repeatedly failed the Black community.
We acknowledge the support of Music Nova Scotia in helping us present Jah’Mila.

Tickets are $25 ($12.50 for those 25 years and under).

Sunday, May 14: Rawlins Cross

The iconic band Rawlins Cross will be playing the Lunenburg Opera House just after being awarded the Dr. Helen Creighton Lifetime Achievement Award at the East Coast Music Awards in Halifax last week. The video for the award presentation says it all: this innovative band has been fusing Celtic traditional music with rock, pop, and world beats for over 30 years, has 11 recordings including the gold-selling, Reel ‘n’ Roll, and a host of other awards. This is a wonderful opportunity to see a legendary band in an intimate setting.

Thanks to Pat McGowan and Dennis Carter for their generous sponsorship of this concert.

Tickets are $45 ($22.50 for those 25 years and under).
