Volunteer

The Lunenburg Folk Harbour Society is a volunteer-driven organization. From the year-round committees that carry out the Society's objectives to the folks who pitch in during the Folk Harbour Festival, volunteers make it all happen. We are looking for enthusiastic, friendly and responsible music lovers to join our team. Punctuality and commitment to the task you've undertaken, as well as a cheerful and co-operative manner with festival-goers and other volunteers are a must! In return, you'll have the fun and satisfaction of being a part of the Festival and meeting lots of like-minded people.

How many 4-hour shifts are you willing to work during the festival?

Set Up Crew (Thursday from approximately 8 am to 4 pm - if you're willing to haul chairs or swing a hammer, you can help us create the Mainstage)
Take Down Crew (Monday from approximately 8:30 am to 4 pm - what goes up must come down)
Box Office (selling tickets at the Festival venues - requires comfort in dealing with cash and credit card transactions and interacting cheerfully with the public)
Concessions (selling our performers' CDs and Festival merchandise - requires comfort in dealing with cash and credit card transactions and interacting helpfully with the public - a knowledge of Festival music is a definite asset)
Hospitality (as well as meeting and greeting, may involve late hours and clean-up chores)
Transportation (a chance to meet some of our performers as you chauffeur them to and from the airport or between Festival venues - a suitable vehicle and a good driving record are essential)
Usher (assisting with the movement and seating of Festival-goers at the Mainstage tent)
Office Work (a variety of activities in the Festival office including ticket sales and assisting Festival-goers) '
Runner (working out of the festival office, runners respond to requests from the venues)
Ice Cream Sales (scooping ice cream cones at a tent next to the Mainstage - involves late evenings - volunteers must be conscientious about personal and site cleanliness)
Raffle Sales (selling tickets for the raffle at the Wharf in the afternoon or the Mainstage in the evening - we're looking for friendly, outgoing people with some talent for sales)
Green Team (assist the public in waste separation, work alongside Site Crew when needed, provide general information, and help us ensure the environmental impact of the Festival is minimized

In addition to volunteer jobs during the Festival, the Folk Harbour Society is always happy to welcome new talent to our year-round committees. These include the committees that do advance planning for various aspects of the festival, as well as committees dedicated to fundraising, publicity, education and planning our annual Folk Fiesta concert in March.
