Shane Philip

WEBSITE
A newcomer to Lunenburg Folk Harbour Festival, Shane Philip is a uniquely energetic multi-instrumentalist who redefines the term one-man band. Moving easily from didgeridoo to djembe, Weissenborn and Kona lap steel guitars, kick drum, shakers, and acoustic guitars, Philips draws on influences from Africa and Australian music, blending blues, reggae, rock, and folk styles. He followed up his first two CDs, Earthshake (2006) and In the Moment (2008), with his latest recording, Live at Baker Studios (2009), which captures the spontaneity of his performance style. This BC-based former high school teacher who gave up the confines of the classroom to travel the world making music is sure to get us on our feet and dancing.
